To maximize resources directly impacting student-athletes, Fox & Ziepfel attorneys founded an NIL Collective—Cincy Reigns—to serve student-athletes at the University of Cincinnati, as well as the Greater Cincinnati charitable and philanthropic community. They structured Cincy Reigns as an all-volunteer collective with no paid staff or board members, ensuring that all resources directly benefit student-athletes and community initiatives.
Since launching without payroll or employees, Cincy Reigns has achieved several significant milestones. It has become the official and only NIL collective serving the University of Cincinnati’s athletic department and student-athletes. The collective has also substantially increased NIL revenue contributions from university stakeholders, benefiting both student-athletes and nonprofit organizations.
Cincy Reigns has sourced numerous creative partnerships with local and national businesses, driving recurring revenue to sustain the university’s NIL ecosystem. Among its most notable collaborations is a groundbreaking partnership with Rhinegeist Brewery, the 23rd largest craft brewery in the nation. This partnership led to the creation of Cincy Light, a new product offering that has expanded rapidly across the region.
Beyond financial growth, Cincy Reigns has had a measurable impact on the Greater Cincinnati charitable community. In just the first two quarters of 2024, student-athletes affiliated with Cincy Reigns logged over 500 volunteer hours, directly contributing to community service efforts.
Additionally, Cincy Reigns has collaborated with university stakeholders to develop innovative strategies and workflows for attracting, recruiting, signing, and retaining elite student-athletes. Through these efforts, the collective continues to strengthen both the University of Cincinnati’s athletic program and its connection to the broader community.
